3rd S.D.: Zeldin's reply to Foley-Levy item

After the whole exchange Friday involving Steve Levy, Rick Lazio, Sen. Brian Foley and where newly Republican Levy stands or may stand in the 3rd S.D. race, Lee Zeldin, the putative GOP candidate for the seat, send us this statement as a response. It whacks Foley on his stated commitment to "focus on issues" and  sidesteps the question of the Levy endorsement and blames Foley for Long Island fiscal ills

Zeldin states:.

"There is no one who seems to be more committed to campaigning harder against Brian Foley's reelection effort than Brian Foley."

He pins the MTA payroll tax, elimination of the STAR rebate check, fishing fees in the Great South Bay, lesser school aid and and other financial burdens on Foley, and adds:

"Every time he sells out to his party brass from NYC, Long Islanders suffer. This should be a lesson for all elected officials of any political party. Remember where you came from and remember who voted you into office in the first place.

"Zeldin, 30, served as an aide to State Senator Kenneth P. LaValle. The Shirley resident studied at the University at Albany, graduated from Albany Law School, and earned his commission through Army ROTC. He was a paratrooper, prosecutor and magistrate with the 82nd Airborne Division and XVIII Airborne Corps. In the summer of 2006, he was deployed to Iraq with an infantry battalion of fellow paratroopers. Lee with his wife, Diana, have 3 year old identical twin daughters, Mikayla and Arianna.
