8th S.D.: Dave Denenberg departs from Garden City law firm

Legis. Dave Denenberg, a Democrat running for the State Senate, abruptly left his position as a partner with the Garden City law firm of Davidoff Hutcher & Citron last week without explanation.

Denenberg (D-Merrick), who was chair of the firm’s Intellectual Property Law group, confirmed that he left the firm on Wednesday and said the decision was “mutual.” But the normally chatty lawmaker said he was “not at liberty” to discuss the reasons for his departure.

The firm, which specializes in civil litigation, did not respond to requests for comment. Davidoff Hutcher removed Denenberg from its website on Thursday.

Denenberg is the Democratic nominee for the 8th State Senate seat vacated last year by Republican Charles Fuschillo Jr. He is being challenged by Legis. Michael Venditto (R-Massapequa)
