Absent 2 years, will gun control move up on gov's agenda?

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo today will hold his first news conference since the Connecticut school shootings.

The Democrat has said that in the wake of the tragedy “We as a society must unify and once and for all crack down on the guns.”

Guns haven’t been a high-profile issue for the first two years of his administration. In fact, the one gun issue that has generated headlines was Cuomo’s successful push to have New York drop out of a national ballistics database.

But since last summer, he’s promised to put gun control “at the top of the list” for the 2013 session.
