As Levy eyes Albany, others line up for exec

Add lame-duck Legis. Vivian Vilora Fisher to the list of Democrats who are lining up to run for county executive.
Richard Schaffer, Suffolk Democratic chairman, said Fisher called him late last month to express her interest in replacing Steve Levy if he wins governor or running against him if he loses.
Fisher joins Town Supervisors Steve Bellone of Babylon, Mark Lesko of Brookhaven Philip Nolan of Islip and Frank Petrone of Huntington as potential candidates. Legis. Jon Cooper (D-Lloyd Harbor) has also joked about the race to test the waters. Fisher is also even trying to line up support, buttonholing Patchogue Mayor Paul Pontieri at a recent church event. Pontieri, noncommittal, said she’s a “smart, talented lady” but said wants to see what Lesko’s doing first.
