Becker launches campaign for McCarthy Congress seat

On Day One of his Congressional campaign, the weather cooperated with Republican Nassau County Legis. Francis X. Becker.

The few raindrops tapered off before Becker strode down the steps of his small financial services firm in Lynbrook shortly before 6 p.m. Monday.

"I am running to restore the free enterprise system and the American dream," he told about 50 supporters..

Becker will get on the ballot against U.S. Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-Garden City) courtesy of the county GOP.

His primary opponents - law professor Frank Scaturro of Hempstead and financial services worker Daniel Maloney of Baldwin - will have to collect nominating petitions to get on the ballot.
