Former President Bill Clinton will appear in Glen Cove Monday night to headline a campaign fundraiser for his wife, Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.
The event, hosted by Nassau Democratic Committee Chairman Jay Jacobs, a longtime Clinton supporter who serves on her campaign’s national finance committee, will take place at the North Shore Day Camp. Lloyd Harbor businessman and top Democratic fundraiser George Tsunis also is serving as a host of the event, Jacobs said.
Jacobs said he expects to raise more than $500,000 for Clinton’s campaign at the $2,700-a-head fundraiser.
Federal campaign finance records show Clinton outpacing Republican rival Donald Trump in fundraising in the final stretch of the election.
The Hillary Victory Fund, a joint fundraising partnership between Clinton’s campaign, the Democratic National Committee and state committees, raised $261 million in the third quarter of the year, according to Federal Election Commission filings released Saturday.
Meanwhile, records show the Trump Victory Fund, a similar fundraising venture between his campaign and the Republican National Committee and state parties, raised $61 million in the same three-month period.
