It may work for President Donald Trump, but Twitter is no friend of State Sen. Carl Marcellino.
The Syosset Republican “liked” a Twitter post that said suspected pipe bombs mailed to former president Barack Obama, Bill and Hillary Clinton and CNN were “sort of poetic.”
Candice Giove, GOP state Senate spokeswoman, said, "The Senator's no millennial and is not constantly on Twitter. He made an honest mistake and immediately corrected it. He denounces any and all acts of violence in politics."
The original tweet was sent from, @stopbeingfamous by Ferrari Sheppard. The post stated: “Targets: democrats and media. Trump inspired domestic terrorism.”
Later, in the post to which Marcellino responded, Sheppard said: "However, bombs sent to Obama, CNN and H. Clinton is sort of poetic, considering the bombs they’ve sent.”
Marcellino, 75, is seeking a 12th two year term next month against Democrat James Gaughran, chairman of the Suffolk County Water Authority.
