Following a meeting with Newsday editors on Thursday, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo was asked about the Nassau County executive race now in formation. Does he like Suozzi? Kairman? Mangano? Haber?

“God bless them all,” he said lightly.

“I have a lot of government work to do. And what’s worked for me for the last couple of years is staying away from the politics and focusing on the government. I work with Democrats and Republicans. I’m very proud of how I work across the aisle and I’m staying away from the politics.”

Encourage Kaiman? That's his whole answer on the entire matter.

Great. Now we can all get out our decoder rings and try to infer the inner meanings and consequences from this rather firm sidestep.
