Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo vetoed a controversial bill that would have turned over the former Freeport Armory to a nonprofit church affiliate for $1.

The bill, sponsored by Assemb. Earlene Hooper (D-Hempstead), was strongly opposed by Freeport Mayor Robert Kennedy.
