Since Election Day, when New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg survived an anti-incumbent trend, he’s taken a volley of public hits -- from the Manhattan district attorney, the incoming Comptroller John Liu, the City Council, and judges. And his third term doesn’t even start until Friday.

Bloomberg won while Tom Suozzi in Nassau, Andy Spano in Westchester, and Jon Corzine in New Jersey all lost. But in politics, it sometimes happens that the living come to envy the dead.
