Former Hempstead Town Clerk Mark Bonilla was the 48th-worst boss in the United States in 2013, claims career website eBossWatch.

It was a rough year for Bonilla, a former rising star in the Nassau Republican party who was sentenced to 300 hours of community service for official misconduct in October.

eBossWatch, which said in a statement that it "enables people to anonymously rate their bosses and evaluate potential employers," released its list of America's 50 worst bosses this week. Bonilla was sandwiched between former Buena, N.J. police chief David Sherma and former Fruitland Park, Fla. city manager Ralph Bowers.

Former San Diego Mayor Bob Filner topped the list, which included public and private-sector bosses. Filner was sentenced to 3 months of house arrest and 3 years probation in December for sexually assaulting three women.

Judge Sharon Gianelli found Bonilla guilty in July after he was charged with threatening a male employee with a job transfer if he did not produce compromising photos of a female employee who had accused Bonilla of sexual harassment. Bonilla was town clerk for about 10 years and was removed from office after his conviction.
