Ford meeting on LI Monday: Updated

Legis. Robert Troiano (D-Westbury) says he organized "a range of elected and appointed officials, civic nd community leaders from black and Latino communities" to discuss priorities with Harold Ford Jr. "We have about 40 acceptances, more coming in."

The conference is due to occur in Carle Place around breakfast-time.

As to Democratic state Chairman Jay Jacobs' admonition that the Ford and Gillibrand camps ought to focus on issues and not pot-shots, Ford spokesman Davidson Goldin said that Ford would run for Senate "as an independent Democrat" and "looks forward to a campaign that focuses on important issues such as job creation."
