Gillibrand's 'first book' urges women to seek public roles

Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand's book, "OFF THE SIDELINES: Raise Your Voice, Change the World," will be published Sept. 9 and cost $25. The 336-page book, she said recently, will include personal anecdotes about "how do you mange being a senator, being a mom" and will include "missteps" as well as successes.  

But it will also be a call to women to get involved in politics. New York politicians have had varied luck with books - mayoral candidate Christine Quinn's political biography bombed while Hillary Clinton has made millions. Gillibrand apparently intends to follow Clinton's path. On her Facebook page, Gillibrand wrote, "I'm excited to show you all the cover of my first book…"
