GOP pushes items through Nassau Legislature

The new presiding officer of the Nassau County Legislature, Legis. Peter Schmitt (R-Massapequa) pushed his agenda through quickly on Tuesday.

Some minority Democrats complained they had questions about the three nominees to run the board of Nassau OTB, and the candidates did not appear to answer questions.

Schmitt assured the Democrats that the nominees would be there for Monday’s meeting of the full legislature. For now, the Democrats have the résumés of the candidates and “The résumés speak for themselves,” Schmitt said.
