Green Party candidate disqualified in 1st CD race

A state Supreme Court justice on Tuesday disqualified a Green Party congressional candidate from the November ballot.

In a hearing in Riverhead, Justice Peter Mayer ruled that Jason Strom had only 38 of the 46 legitimate signatures needed to oppose Rep. Tim Bishop (D-Southampton).

Strom, 34, of East Setauket, had originally filed 53 signatures, but neither he nor an attorney appeared in court to contest the objections raised by Keith David, Bishop’s campaign manager.
