Hempstead's Wayne Hall pumping up governor's event

The mayor of Hempstead Village is drumming up support for Gov. Paterson’s re-election announcement Saturday morning at Hofstra.

Mayor Wayne Hall sent out a message on Facebook late Wednesday urging his supporters to come join him and members of the village Board of Trustees “in support of our native son, Gov David Paterson, who will announce his candidacy for Governor of the State of New York.”

[Update: Newsday colleague Sid Cassese points out that 'native son' is not quite accurate. Paterson was born in Harlem and grew up in Hempstead.]

By Thursday morning, 37 people had replied that they would attend and 56 had replied with a “maybe.”
