Best e-mail we've received today comes from Howard Kudler, a Merrick social studies teacher who is the endorsed Democratic candidate against Rep. Peter King (R-Seaford).
Kudler, who lost a 2008 Assembly race to David McDonough (R-Merrick), does not appear to have a campaign Web site (Update: It's coming soon), has not registered a campaign fundraising account and his Twitter feed has a grand total of six followers (including us). His ActBlue page - a staple for Democratic congressional candidates, shows he's raised $0. Still, he presents himself as a spirited candidate angry about a lack of media coverage.
King reported $1.7 million in his latest campaign finance filing.
Here's an excerpt of what Kudler has to say, which came in an e-mail titled "Am I still non existent?":
I am an interesting guy. I have something to say to the voters. And I am not your traditional Democratic Party Boy. That’s why Jay Jacobs and the crew will also not seriously promote me. They asked
Democracy should not be run by hypocrites. If you give me the banner then let me fly it.
(Hint-hint-There is a story in here, and if you coax me right, you just might get it.)
I have been stumping and have been busting my keyster (sic) getting the message out in my district—Here is what you have missed in the last 6 weeks
- I was active at the “hands across the Sand” Protests that eventually shut down the Park Strategies supported LNG project off of Long Beach.
-I have been to meetings and written articles about the Town of Hempstead vs. the Fed’s role on Cell tower placement.
-I have asked the asked the Mosque questions that no one else asks;
if it is It is the NYS Attorney General’s office who has the final authority of the chartering of religious institutions in our state, then Andrew Cuomo’s office could easily have said NO, "it is not in the public’s best interests" to build this house of worship.
Have you ever heard any of the lot running for AG formally address on the Mosque issues? (Once again-- bad Democrat)
Oh, & PS—I have voted every year, even when I don’t like the candidates. I have written myself in for President 4 times.
Am I a nut case? — maybe. But I am I an outspoken citizen, a colorful teacher and an excellent motivator that attracts attention? Definitively! I have something to say. And your readers are out missing the seriousness and excitement of a real campaign! You should really listen more carefully.
With your coverage, I could have been a contender! Wait a second-I AM a contender! And you have yet to find me.
KUDLER for CONGRESS
Kudler sends a follow-up email with this message: "Please don’t be fooled. I am a damn serious candidate and I am running (‘til Nov. 3rd ) to win."
