Lazio camp on Levy's latest: Old attacks die hard

Democrat-turned-Republican Steve Levy's whack at ex-Sen. Phil Gramm and Lew Ranieri, by way of their support for Rick Lazio, prompted a response from Lazio's man Barney Keller who suggests the Suffolk executive is forgetting which party he's running in. Keller's reply:

"Steve Levy's campaign contributions are entirely from Democrats and special interests. Attacking Republicans is just an old habit of his. Someone should remind Steve Levy that Senator Gramm was a real conservative who fought for Ronald Reagan's economic package first as a Democrat and then as a Republican. He switched on principle, not as an opportunist, and ran for president with the proud support of many conservatives. Steve Levy needs to learn more about Republicans before he starts bashing some of our best and brightest."
