Well that’s a relief.
State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli, a Great Neck Democrat, has landed the endorsements of his party’s honchos in Nassau and Suffolk. Not a big surprise given that DiNapoli is the sole Long Islander holding a statewide office.
Still, Nassau accounts for 15 percent of the vote at the Democrats’ nominating convention in May, and Suffolk, another 25 percent. DiNapoli only needs a few more county chairmen to back him and his place on the ballot is guaranteed.
DiNapoli “knows that the economic problems here in Nassau County are the same all across New York State,” said Jay Jacobs, chairman of the Nassau and state committees. “That’s why he’s turned the comptroller’s office around, working proactively and aggressively to protect taxpayers and help make our financial future more secure.”
Richard Schaffer, Suffolk committee chairman, said, “DiNapoli…looks out for the average resident and for our small businesses, because he knows that New York can only thrive when we all work together. Tom is determined, committed and focused on the tasks at hand. I am pleased to offer my whole-hearted support.”
