Mass. fallout in NY II: More reaction

Two Republicans who wish to run in the fall against Democratic Rep. Tim Bishop in the 1st CD sent us statements celebrating Brown's victory.

From Randy Altschuler: "His victory should be an inspiration for conservative Republican candidates running throughout New York State. It proves that with hard work, determination, and a message of cutting taxes, cutting spending and shrinking the deficit, Republicans can win in traditional Democratic strongholds in the Northeast. "

From George Demos: "Tonight, history was made in Massachusetts as the people resoundingly rejected the government takeover of our healthcare and elected a principled leader over a machine-selected politician. I am proud to be working with the Shawmut group, the same team that guided Scott Brown to victory, and I look forward to defeating Tim Bishop this fall."

We also heard from Jonathan Tasini, who presents himself as a pro-labor alternative to Kirsten Gillibrand in the Democratic primary for US Senate. Tasini stated: "There is a great rumbling among voters. Progressives can either hear the rumbling and try to capture its passion or ignore it and let the right wing capture it."

Tasini said Gillibrand would lose if she's the nominee.
