Let the fundraising for Rep. Carolyn McCarthy’s soon-to-be-open congressional seat begin.

Legis. Minority Leader Kevan Abrahams (D-Freeport) will hold a fundraiser to benefit his Congressional Exploratory Committee on Jan. 29 at Havanas Private Cigar Club at the Carltun restaurant in Eisenhower Park.

Individual tickets for the event are $1,000 while event chairs pay $2,600 for an evening of “cocktails and conversations.”

Abrahams is one of several Democrats actively courting support to replace the retiring McCarthy. Others include Nassau District Attorney Kathleen Rice, Legis. Dave Denenberg of Merrick and Malverne Mayor Patricia Norris-McDonald.

Potential GOP candidates include Hempstead Supervisor Kate Murray and Nassau Legis. Francis X. Becker Jr. of Lynbrook. Attorney Frank Scaturro has declared his candidacy.
