Nassau County changes administrations, and locks

The change in administrations in Nassau County government led to a changing of the locks at the seat of county government, the Theodore Roosevelt Executive and Legislative Building in Mineola.

County employees showing up for work Monday morning were greeted with signs taped to all entrances announcing in bold letters that “LOCKS HAVE BEEN CHANGED.”

All workers — and visitors showing up for the first meeting of the Republican-controlled county legislature — were directed to the main entrance on Franklin Avenue, where they had to show identification to get in.

The notice was posted by the Public Security Unit of the Nassau County Police Department.
