Nassau Dem hires aide of defeated peer

With Nassau Democrats bashing Republicans for patronage hiring, GOP operatives point out that Legis. Wayne Wink (D-Roslyn) recently put the former aide of a defeated Democratic legislator on his payroll.

Kathleen Sadowski, who worked for former Legis. Jeff Toback of Oceanside, was hired part-time by Wink for $36 per hour, limited to 22 hours per week.

“I had an aide who resigned because he wants to go to law school. She was on unemployment,” Wink said. “I hired her on a seasonal basis so she could back on her feet while she’s looking for something fulltime. If she makes twenty grand I’d be amazed.”

He added, “No good deed goes unpunished.”

She does not get fringe benefits with the job.
