The Nassau County Republican Committee has decided to back Legis. Michael Venditto, son of longtime Oyster Bay Supervisor John Venditto, to run for the 8th Senate District.

The seat was vacated by ex-Sen. Charles Fuschillo Jr., who resigned Dec. 31 to take a job with a nonprofit.

Democrats have endorsed Legis. David Denenberg.
