A new Republican-proposed redistricting map for the Nassau Legislature is intended to elect 12 to 13 Republicans to the 19-member body.

“This is payback,” said a Republican operative. “When [Nassau Democratic chairman] Jay Jacobs instructed his people not to vote for any bonding, he tried to make it all or nothing. "When the Democratic Party is locked out for 10 years, blame Jay Jacobs. He’s getting nothing.”

After the lines were released Friday, Jacobs blasted them as “a power grab by the Republicans who do not learn. . . They have really overreached once again.

 The commission’s GOP chairman, Frank Moroney, defended the lines as fair.
