A hearing requested by fired members of Nassau’s Assessment Review Commission, has been put off until next week, county officials said Wednesday.
The six commission members — appointed by lame-duck, Democratic CE Thomas Suozzi late last month — were fired last week by Suozzi’s Republican successor, Edward Mangano.
Since they had fixed terms, they were entitled to a hearing, which was scheduled for 5 p.m. Wednesday. It was put off until next week at the request of five of the six fired commissioners.
One of the six, Ruben Coryat, decided not to contest the firing, according to a spokesman for Mangano. Coryat did not return telephone calls for comment.
