New GOP Suffolk win: An omen in 3rd SD?

An open question, posed without prejudice:

Does Dean Murray's victory yesterday in the special election for state Assembly bode well for the GOP opponent of Democratic Sen. Brian Foley -- whichever contender that turns out to be?

The anonymously-distributed anti-Foley "Foley Watch" seeks to create positive buzz for -- whomever -- by stating:

"Dean Murray's win in the Assembly Special Election paints a dismal picture for Brian Foley's own re-election this year considering the race took place within Foley's Senate District.

"Suffolk GOP chairman John Jay LaValle told Newsday that the party's next target is state Sen. Brian X. Foley (D-Blue Point).

"The troops are energized and Foley's in trouble."

This is the seat veteran Sen. Caesar Trunzo lost in 2008.

Analyses welcome.
