NYC: Behind Christine Quinn's editorial trifecta

Just a bit of conveniently forgotten context in the NYC mayor's race:

The News-Post-Times endorsement trifecta for Christine Quinn has an only-in-New York logic. All three daily papers supported trashing the term-limit law without a referendum so one individual could run again in 2009 – Mayor Michael Bloomberg (who’d earlier vowed never to allow such a change).

Given that history, editorial-writers of the same publications couldn’t very well hold the backroom fix against the council speaker who pushed  through negating past referendums by legislation.

As a result, the frequent public critiques by rivals Thompson, de Blasio and others that Quinn practiced self-serving politics in a basic way -- which still resounds among some voters -- couldn’t really be factors in their editorial decisions.
