Other 'burbs getting on board Nassau suit against MTA tax

Dutchess County might be joining Nassau County’s lawsuit against the MTA payroll tax.

The Dutchess County Legislature plans to vote at its Sept. 13 meeting on adopting a resolution authorizing the move, according to a spokesman for the chairman of the legislature, Robert Rolison (R-Poughkeepsie.)

Putnam County and three Orange County towns have already joined the Nassau suit; Rockland County has filed a separate suit. Westchester County has indicated it will join the Nassau case, which would be heard in state Supreme Court in Mineola.

“We’re having a lot of municipalities in the region joining us or showing an interest,” Nassau County Attorney John Ciampoli said Wednesday.

The state has filed paperwork seeking to move the case to Manhattan or Albany, but Nassau is fighting that move, Ciampoli said.
