Poorly planned parking in Mineola

“Who’s this guy Marty Glennon? He’s parking illegally. He’s getting a $90 ticket.”

The Nassau County security officer who said that Thursday was looking for — although he didn’t know it — the vice chairman of the Nassau County Planning Commission.

Glennon — name partner with the Melville law firm Archer, Byington, Glennon and Levine — was in executive session with other members of the Planning Commission in a backroom of the legislative hearing chamber in Mineola.

People in the audience directed the security officer to planning staffers, who went to the back room and got Glennon, who had joined the commission in late September is a relative newcomer to how things work in the parking lot. (And there’s been a change of administrations.)

“I got away with a warning,” Glennon said later. “I didn’t realize I was in someone’s spot.”
