Remember Levy's Hispanic contact in Nassau

The following was buried in a Spin Cycle item posted last week. Given Steve Levy’s switcheroo from Democrat to Republican, it feels a bit more relevant:

“Meanwhile, one aide to \[Republican\] Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano, has gone out of his way to help Levy hook up with members of the Hispanic community, some of whom he has locked horns with.

Giovanni Mata, a Nassau County employee recently hired by Mangano, helped introduce Levy to a prominent visitor from El Salvador at a recent meeting this week that was discussed in the Hispanic media.

Mata, who lives in Levittown, is with the Suffolk County Hispanic Advisory Board and is a $52,500-a-year project director for Mangano's Office of Minority Affairs.

A spokesman for Mangano said Mata was on his own time when he arranged the event.”

[The spokesman added this Friday that Mangano has taken no position on the governor’s race.\]
