There’s no official word yet on the purpose, though it’s likely about planning for the 2013 session — including spelling out for rank-and-file members exactly how the new Senate governing coalition will operate.

This will be the first gathering of the 30 Republicans since Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos (R-Rockville Centre) and Sen. Jeff Klein (D-Bronx), leader of a group of breakaway Democrats, announced an alliance that will give the coalition 36 members — enough to control the 63-seat chamber.
