Democratic AG candidate Kathleen Rice got endorsed Tuesday by one of the more progressive labor unions in the state - the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union, RWDSU for short.
And union President Stuart Appelbaum made he got the “progressive” part in there,” saying of Rice: “Kathleen is smart, she’s tough and she’s progressive.”
Appelbaum noted that Rice, the Nassau County district attorney, had gotten a $1.5 million award from Walmart to set up a compensation fund for victims of a Black Friday stampede at chain’s Valley Stream store in 2008.
Another Democratic AG candidate, Westchester Assemb. Richard Brodsky, picked up the expected endorsement Tuesday of Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver — which might be of a help in a Democratic primary, but maybe not a help in a general election in which voter disgust with Albany is expected to be a factor.
