Senate's Sampson says he'd cede post if it helps Dems prevail

Speaking publicly this morning in the company of NAACP leader Hazel Dukes and National Action Network chief Al Sharpton, Sen. John Sampson (D-Brooklyn) said he'd be willing to quit as minority leader if it paved the way for a deal to heal the fractured conference.

Outsider's question: If Republicans end up on top in the still-embattled 46th S.D., why would they do a "coalition" with the breakaway Democrats?
