     The special panel appointed by Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo to look at the state’s emergency preparedness will host a public meeting next Tuesday at SUNY Old Westbury.

  Cuomo’s Moreland Commission will hear from expert witnesses and take public comment.

The meeting is slated for 6 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 11, at the Student Union Center on the campus of the State University of New York at Old Westbury, 223 Store Hill Rd. Residents can send comments to the commission by e-mailing comments@moreland.ny.gov.

The commission’s first meeting will be held at 6 tonight at the Lighthouse International hall, 111 E. 59th St. in Manhattan.

The commission also announced it will hold a separate hearing Dec. 20 specifically on the response of National Grid and the Long Island Power Authority to storms Sandy and Irene. The location and time haven’t been determined.
