A Suffolk County police coalition is endorsing Democratic Attorney General Eric Schneiderman for re-election.
The announcement expected Monday cites Schneiderman’s “tough and smart approach to tackling crime.”
The endorsement comes from the Suffolk County PBA, the Suffolk County Detective Association, the Suffolk County Superior Officers Association, the Suffolk County Detective Investigators PBA and the Suffolk County Police Conference.
Schneiderman faces Republican John Cahill, a former top staffer for Gov. George Pataki. In June Cahill was endorsed by the State Police Troopers Police Benevolent Association.
“When federal budget cuts impacted local police officers, Attorney General Schneiderman stepped up by using money recovered from drug busts to help the Suffolk County police pay for life-saving bulletproof vests,” said Noel DiGerolamo, President of Suffolk County PBA “That’s one of the many reasons we are proud to endorse Attorney General Schneiderman for re-election.”
