BACKGROUND: Gregory, of Amityville, 39, also is on the Independence and Working Families lines. A U.S. Army veteran who enlisted in 1993, Gregory is a full-time legislator, and previously worked as chief of staff to ex-Suffolk County Legis. Elie Mystal. He won the seat in a special election 14 months ago.

ISSUES: Gregory has said he's focused on the delivery of services to district residents in his bid to win a full term to the 15th District seat. Affordable housing, hate crimes and falling tax revenue are his main concerns. Gregory's legislation created the Suffolk County Hate Crimes Task Force, which has been holding public hearings. He also co-sponsored a local law to promote the development of residential dwellings for first-time home buyers.
