A wild rabbit was rescued after falling into a storm drain in Hauppauge Sunday, Suffolk County police said.

Neighbors called police about 12:20 p.m. after witnessing a cat chase a small rabbit down a storm drain at 460 Old Nichols Rd.

According to police, emergency service Officer Lance Prager removed the storm drain cover and used a ladder to lower himself inside to retrieve the rabbit.

Animal rescue personnel were on the scene to take possession of the rabbit, police said.
