Two years after superstorm Sandy, the dramatic images from the aftermath of the storm still resonate with Long Islanders, some of whom continue to struggle to get back to normal.

Newsday revisited some of the sites it photographed immediately after, six months after and a year after the storm to see what progress has been made.

The images capture the range of recovery efforts on Long Island — from homes that have been torn down and rebuilt to businesses still shuttered.
