Shinnecock Powwow in Southampton

Native Americans from across the nation gathered Saturday, Aug 30, 2014 at the Shinnecock Reservation to celebrate the 68th annual Shinnecock Powwow. The event combines tradition and entertainment through its dancers, drumming, costumes and food. An institution on Long Island, the powwow runs Friday through Labor Day and gives spectators a glimpse into centuries-old ceremonies.
