Five people were injured Sunday morning, including an infant, when a vehicle being driven west on the Southern State left the parkway and somehow ended up on Old Britton Road, striking a pickup truck and a third vehicle parked nearby, according to the New York State Police.

The crash happened around 10:45 a.m., police said.

How the first vehicle ended up off the parkway and onto the roadway is still being investigated, according to State Police Trooper Daniel Ahlgrim.

One of the four occupants of the first vehicle was seriously injured, police said, and two others, including the infant, suffered lesser injuries. The occupants of the pickup truck suffered minor injuries, according to the news release. The parked vehicle was unoccupied, the news release said.
