10 GOP candidates seek to run against Israel

The Republicans, with seven contenders vying to take on Rep. Tim Bishop(D-Southampton), now have 10 people seeking to run against Rep. SteveIsrael (D-Huntington).

Candidates were screened in Huntington and Babylon last week and will do so in Islip tomorrow. On the list: Radio personality John Gomez; Sal Ferro, owner of Alure Home Improvements; Josh Price; Chris Thompson, David Dileo; Anthony Segreto; Brian Sullivan; Peter Nichols, Stephen LaBate and Bruce Kelly.

"It used to be we had trouble finding one candidate," said Frank Tantone, Islip GOP chairman, "Now we with have a roomful." Suffolk's Conservative Sheriff Vincent DeMarco earlier expressed interest, but Suffolk GOP chairman John Jay LaValle said he declined to screen.
