3 charged with selling alcohol to minors

Three sales clerks were charged Tuesday with selling alcohol to a minor in a State Police operation targeting underage drinkers in Greenport.

State Police said in a news release the three clerks were each given appearance tickets to appear in Southold Town Court and charged with unlawfully dealing with a child.

An underage agent in each case bought beer from the clerks, according to a news release.

Police said those charged include:

Thomas S. Martoscia, 24, of Hampton Bays, who police said sold a 12 pack of Bud Light to the underage agent at Mr. Roberts, a convenience store on Front Street.

Aida Diaz-Villatoro, 27, of Greenport, who police said sold a 12 pack of Coors Light at Layyah Market, also on Front Street.

Marina C. Castillo, 28, of Greenport, who police said sold a 6 pack of Bud Light at TSM Grocery on Front Street.

Seven other Greenport businesses were targeted and found to be in compliance, police said.
