An Amityville man was killed in a two-vehicle crash that forced the closure of New Highway in North Lindenhurst Tuesday afternoon, Suffolk County police said.

Glenwood Blalock, 76, was driving a 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier west on Albany Avenue at New Highway about 12:20 p.m. when he drove in front of a 2005 Dodge Ram that was going north through the intersection, police said.

Blalock was struck in the driver side door, police said.

Blalock was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he was pronounced dead.

The second driver, Richard Cornell, 44, of Glen Cove was not injured, police said.

Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks and the investigation is continuing.
