A trespasser on the Long Island Rail Road tracks at the Massapequa station was struck and killed by a train Monday at about 4:15 p.m., according to an MTA spokeswoman and Nassau County Police.

The Babylon branch had been temporarily suspended in both directions due to the police investigation, according to the spokeswoman and an email alert.

Service has since been restored, with up to 20 minute delays in both directions, the LIRR said.

"Limited eastbound service" had been resumed with the continuation of the 3:46 p.m. from Penn Station, which had been stopped en route and the departure of the 5:19 p.m. from Penn Station, according to the spokeswoman and another email alert.
