Kings Park bicyclist hit by van dies, police say

A Kings Park man who was struck by a van while bicycling in his hometown Friday morning has died, Suffolk police said.

Fourth Squad detectives said William Parmentier III, 50, had been in critical condition at Stony Brook University Hospital with a fractured skull after the 10:40 a.m. crash on Pulaski Road, east of King Street.

Parmentier subsequently died from his injuries, police said Saturday.

Detectives said Parmentier was riding his bicycle east on the north sidewalk of Pulaski Road. When he tried to cross to the south side of the road, he hit the side of a 1995 GMC van driven by an Islip man, who was not hurt.

Police urge anyone with information about the  accident to call the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452.
