A body was found near the train tracks east of Copiague during Friday’s evening rush hour, disrupting service, the MTA said.
The man appeared to have committed suicide by jumping from a high railroad trestle, according to an MTA source.
He landed on the street below the Long Island Rail Road bridge, said Salvatore Arena, spokesman for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
The discovery at 5:40 p.m. has led to at least four train cancellations by 7 p.m. on the Babylon branch of the Long Island Rail Road, according to LIRR tweets and website.
Other details were not immediately available as MTA police investigated at the scene.
