Suffolk police arrested a Bohemia man Monday in connection with the weekend stabbing of another man who then drove away despite his wounds, officials said. The wounded man eventually crashed his car in Holbrook, officials said.
Frank Redd, 32, is expected to be arraigned Tuesdayon first degree assault charges at First District Court in Central Islip, police said.
Redd stabbed Brian Harris, 39, of Middle Island, multiple times in the head and chest after the two got into an altercation at about 8:25 p.m. Saturday night in Holbrook, police said.
After getting stabbed, Harris drove off in his 2012 Kia sedan but eventually struck a guardrail and sign post on Veterans Memorial Highway, west of Broadway Avenue in Holbrook, police said. The vehicle overturned and caught fire.
An off-duty FDNY firefighter and his brother stopped and rescued Harris from the burning vehicle after breaking the sunroof and pulling him to safety.
Harris was taken to Stony Brook University Medical Center by the Holbrook Fire Department where he was in serious condition Saturday. An update on his condition was not available last night.
The victim's sedan was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is ongoing.
