An early morning brush fire caused minor delays on the Huntington branch of the Long Island Rail Road on Monday, police and officials said.
Suffolk County police said the fire was reported in a 911 call at 6:24 a.m. and said volunteers from the Huntington Fire Department responded to the scene on West Stepar Place in Huntington Station.
Police said the MTA also was notified and was asked to suspend power to the electrified third rail in the area.
The railroad reported that the 6:50 a.m. train from Huntington, due to arrive at Hunterspoint Avenue at 7:49 a.m., was delayed because of the fire department activity. It was not clear how many other trains were affected by the fire.
