A car careened onto the front stoop of a Mastic Beach home Thursday afternoon after the driver lost control, police said.

The 1995 Saturn two-door sedan was headed south on Mastic Beach Road and "apparently lost control" at Washington Avenue a little after 4 p.m., police said. The Saturn hit the front of a corner house at the intersection, but no one was home at the time.

The driver and a passenger in the Saturn were taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police said no citations were issued. The town building inspector also responded to assess damage to the home, police said.
